If you want the a photo masterpiece, the best source is nature. There is nothing more beautiful, more enchanting, more original, and more natural than nature subjects. It offers a wide and unique variety of photography objects that you can capture anytime you want sans the hassle of photo manipulation and technological enhancements. You just have to know the best places and best subjects for you to experience the magic of nature photography.
The recently held AMS 2006 amateur photography contest had more than 125 entries that came from the different states of America. The contest was for the benefit of Make-a-Wish Foundation that's stationed in Utah. Some local companies sponsored the contest and its prizes. The contest had its short list of the 10 best photos among the overwhelming entries. This contest just proved that people still appreciate the beauty of nature.
Capture life by using your camera and your photography skills. You can collect those photos and store them in your elegant looking laptop so that you will be able to compile them for your portfolio. Take a picture of an old church near you or your backyard tree. You can choose anything from your surrounding as your subject. If you're a traveler shoot those unique places and unique things that can only be found from that place. Take your best shot and ace that photography contest.

My mom is English, so I really think photography is in my genes, as well as minced pies, royal knights, and love for stinking cats. So for the thirtieth time, I dragged myself and my brother to a photo contest. This time, it's off to Syracuse for us, just to test my hypothesis. But as usual, we failed to snag the grand prize; good thing we managed to bring home some "bacon" like free gift items and corporate giveaways.
Photo contests are the surest way to prove that even nasty little gits like the winners can take pictures and grab an award. But they're actually nice places to exercise one's foolishness because most contests that I've been to were filled with the lousiest organizers, idiotic judges, and photographers with the artistic capability of a rat. Blimey, I wonder how they've got the shitty nerves to call themselves artists! Based on personal experiences, I highly recommend morons to join such contests, if you can still afford to lose the remains of your sanity.
Materials to bring: rusting digital cameras, rotten personality, and moldy brain. Personal digital assistants and other high-tech gadgets aren't allowed in such contests because such are only for assholes. Oh, and don't forget your family or a flock of flies and dog fleas for moral support.

Photography is a rewarding career, not only because photographers get to do the things that they love the most: take photos. But because they get recognition from their colleagues or from non-photographers through contests and awards. A photo contest is just what photographers need, amateur or pro, to motivate their selves and strive to shoot photos that are worth a million praises.
Panasonic Batteries joins in the loop as it launched a contest in search of the best amateur travel photographer in the United Kingdom. The country is home to some of the most talented and budding photographers who aspire to become great one day. What better way to discover them, than through a competition. The contest is currently accepting entries. Portraits of any travel-related subject or even landscapes or images that portray real-life situations.
People who are interested to participate can submit up to 6 photos at photo-award.com, the contest website. Since summer is almost here it's the perfect time for armatures to shoot their best photos in time for the submission which ends in October 31. A trip to New York plus the prestige of winning the contest are what awaits the overall winner. Winners are also chosen every month until the contest is open. Judges will consists of experts and photographers from Panasonic Batteries.

As a photographer, I've always dedicated my time gaining knowledge regarding techniques and technology to aid me in my field. But never in my five years of being one that I've tried to join a photo contest. Probably because I was so engrossed in my own little world that I never cared about what's happening around me. But my extensive portfolio would tell you that I could have won the first prize.
Although photo contest is a good place to earn prestige and exposure, it's also a lucrative way to earn money. For students out there here's one great news. Microsoft has recently launched a photo contest called Future Pro Photographers Photography Contest. It is open to currently enrolled students in colleges or universities anywhere in the world taking up a two or four year course or taking up advance degree. The contest expects to showcase pure talent in photography and foster creativity among aspiring photographers. Besides winning some cash (actually it's quite big -- $20,000), the big winner will take home a digital package which that can help him attain his potentials of being a good photographer.

The categories apart from the First Place Award include, Cutest Smile, Best Expression, Most Charming, and so on. The winners will take home cash prizes, framed photo of the winner, certificate, and the opportunity to be seen in baby magazines and websites.

I've always enjoyed reading National Geographic Magazines. I love the articles because they're very informative. But I love the creatively shot photos more. I enjoy that the photos for National Geographic are all moving, they speak an unwritten language. The photos immediately give you emotions of sadness, happiness, pity or fear. Some are unusual, some are hard-to-capture and some are really extreme.
No wonder National Geographic's Awards for Best Photos are the most coveted of awards for photographers. In this contest, it's pure competition and talent. If you're thinking of joining, start studying and practicing now.
